FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
No. We do accept HSA/FSA medical cards and we do offer 'super bills' (itemized receipts for each session of therapy) for clients to submit to their insurance for reimbursement. Depending on your plan and provider some insurance companies may/may not reimburse you and/or apply your sessions toward your deductible.
WHAT DO I WEAR DURING TREATMENT?
Clients remain clothed the entire session with all therapies that we offer. Myofascial Release is the only therapy that requires contact directly on skin to make changes to your tissue. So we recommend clients wear clothing such as a loose tank top and shorts, or a diaper and onesie for infants that allows us easy access to skin when needed. All other therapies can be done over clothing and still have great results. Please AVOID wearing lotions or oils the day of your appointment since that can interfere with treatment.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO YOU RECOMMEND BEFORE I SEE RESULTS?
Every client and imbalance is different. We start sessions off with a postural assessment that allows us to see structural restrictions that need treated first and each session we treat deeper and deeper correcting those restrictions. Depending on how long you've had the issue, whether it's chronic or acute and how quickly your body responds to treatment are all factors. Most clients notice results in just a couple sessions but we usually recommend giving it 4-6 regular treatments/sessions initially before you start noticing results. After the sixth appointment we discuss a treatment plan if more sessions are needed and we work together to come up with a plan that fits your availability and financial situation to reach your health goals.
IS THIS THERAPY SAFE FOR ALL AGES?
Absolutely! All the therapies we offer are gentle and safe enough for newborns just hours old, geriatric clients, cancer patients, post-op patients, etc. There are certain health considerations and conditions that may prohibit someone from receiving therapy but that is something that we will discuss with you at your first visit or during your consultation.
WHAT IF MY CHILD WON'T SIT STILL FOR AN ENTIRE SESSION?
We treat children of all ages and with various conditions, ages and attention spans. A pediatric session lasts 30-60 minutes and always involves lots of movement, talking, music and toys on and off the table to keep them entertained. Most children love getting worked on and find it calming to do so since treatment often calms the nervous system.
If the child is on the move, we move with them while treating! We never prohibit them from moving or expressing body or verbal cues such as tics, emotions, or the many questions that they may ask since many of these cues could be part of them releasing in a great way. It's extremely important that your child is comfortable with treatment so if accommodations need to be made we are happy to do so.
WHAT HEALTH SAFETY & COVID19 PRECAUTIONS HAVE YOU TAKEN?
Linens, surfaces, toys and bathrooms are changed, disinfected and laundered in between every client as they always have been even before the pandemic. We allow ample time in between appointments for cleaning and sanitizing. We have temporarily waived all cancellation fees so if you any symptoms of illness, please cancel and we will do the same. Masks are not required in our office at this time.

WILL YOU JUST WORK ON WHERE MY SYMPTOMS ARE?
No, the therapies we use treat the whole body not just where your symptoms are. Traditional MD's and therapists were taught to ineffectively try to "fix" or manage symptoms instead of looking for the root cause of the problem. Also, they usually overlook the effect that the conscious mind has on the healing process. Holistic mind-body therapies such as MFR, CranioSacral and Neuro Kinesiology have the philosophy to look at the entire being. This way we can focus on finding the root cause of the problem and facilitate true healing on all levels (physical, mental, emotional) in our clients thus eliminating the problem and its symptoms.
DO YOU ACCEPT TIPS?
No. The rate we charge is the rate you pay. We appreciate your desire to show extra appreciation so instead of a tip we invite you to refer family and friends to us or leave a review on our Facebook page @ThriveandWellness, or click on the button below. Your review or referral may help someone who has a similar condition find the help they're looking for.
CAN MY SYMPTOMS WORSEN AFTER TREATMENT?
Yes, we call this a healing crisis and it's common especially as you start a new therapy. Healing crises are good even though they make you feel bad. They are a sign that the healing process chosen is working by eliminating toxins, impurities and imbalances in the body allowing you to heal the mind and body.
A healing crisis usually lasts anywhere from 24-48 hours and happens as you begin to release the deeper layers of restricted tissue which can manifest in various ways such as headache, flushing, fatigue, irritability, strong emotions, depression, muscle cramps, aches and pains, hot/cold flashes and other cold/flu-like symptoms.
Instead of stopping the healing process with OTC medications, try using your therapy ball and self-treatment techniques that we offered you at your first appointment to help your body through it. Or try taking an epsom salt bath, sweat bath, using essential oils such as Lavendar on the affected areas and giving yourself permission to feel what pain comes up and let go of what no longer serves you. Contact your therapist for further questions or suggestions.
WHAT CAN I DO ON MY OWN TO HELP MYSELF HEAL FASTER?
In addition to your therapy sessions there is a lot you can do to improve your health allowing your body to heal quicker and may even lessen the amount of treatments needed.
-
DRINK MORE WATER. Your urine should be white or clear in color (not yellow), indicating you’re well hydrated.
-
WHAT GOES IN MUST COME OUT. How often are you having bowel movements? A backed up bowel harbors loads of toxins that eventually get reabsorbed into the bloodstream causing pain, other symptoms and even disease. You should have a bowel movement 1-3 times daily with little effort. If you’re not, ask me about an organic herbal supplement that can help.
-
EAT BETTER. Therapy can help with pain but quite often your body needs nutritional support too. Eliminate or cut back on high inflammatory foods such as dairy, sugar and products with white flour. Increase your intake of raw veggies once a day and if you’re not on a good organic food based multivitamin ask me about an herbal vitamin that can help, giving you all the minerals and vitamins you need daily.
-
TUNE IN. What have you done this week for self-care? Do you give yourself time to do something you love, journal, go on a walk, or meditate/pray each day? Taking 10 minutes a day to be quiet and meditate allows your mind to show you what aspects of your life and body need your attention. The more you do this the more you’ll be in tune with what your body needs on and off the treatment table.
-
USE YOUR BALL. If I’ve suggested at-home treatment using your ball or various MFR exercises, do them! This will speed up healing and decrease the number of treatments which saves you money and time in the long run.
